Arkansas Hospice to serve patients in Northwest Arkansas

Arkansas Hospice will soon serve patients in several Northwest Arkansas counties within a 50-mile radius of a new location in Berryville formerly operated by Mercy.  The new service area includes all or part of Benton, Boone, Carroll, Crawford, Franklin, Johnson, Madison, Marion, Newton, Searcy and Washington counties.

“We are a nonprofit hospice organization founded by Arkansans to serve Arkansans, so it’s an honor to have the opportunity to extend our mission to Northwest Arkansas,” said Arkansas Hospice President and CEO Judy Wooten.  “It’s especially joyful that this expansion of our service area is happening this year, as we celebrate our 25th anniversary.”

Arkansas Hospice serves patients and families facing a life-limiting illness wherever they call home – private home, nursing home, assisted living facility, or other places of residence – as well as in hospitals and inpatient hospice facilities throughout the state.

The heart of Arkansas Hospice is its people, with each employee focused on the organization’s mission “to enhance the quality of life for those facing serious illness and loss by surrounding them with love and embracing them with the best in physical, emotional and spiritual care.”  Each patient and family is cared for by an interdisciplinary team of professionals including physicians, nurses, hospice aides, social workers, chaplains, bereavement specialists and volunteers.

An award-winning hospice program, Arkansas Hospice was voted the Best Nonprofit/Charitable Organization in Arkansas for three of the last four years in the Arkansas Business “Best of Business Awards.”  With a reputation for high quality care and service, Arkansas Hospice is also consistently ranked among the best hospices in the nation in its family satisfaction surveys.  And as a nonprofit organization, Arkansas Hospice’s goal is to meet the end-of-life needs of families wherever they are, whatever their circumstances, regardless of their ability to pay.

On June 1, Arkansas Hospice will officially open for business in Berryville and will be ready to assist you or a loved one during a time of need. The new office is located at 804 West Freeman Avenue, Suite 4, which is the former Mercy Hospice location.
