What Arkansas Hospice expects to give to its partnership with an African hospice:

• The partnership will be a way to extend the mission of Arkansas Hospice – caring for people who need our support at end-of-life.
• Arkansas Hospice will offer emotional support to the staff of its African hospice partner;
• Draw attention to the impact of AIDS in Africa, helping to make this situation more real to the people of our Arkansas communities, resulting in more people becoming aware, involved and helping;
• Offer technical/professional mentoring in whatever manner is relevant and helpful to our African hospice partner;
• Offer financial assistance through interested individuals and organizations within the communities we serve; and
• Explore the possibilities of grant funding for this project from Foundations in the United States.

What Arkansas Hospice hopes to receive from its partnership with an African hospice:

• First and most important, we will receive the benefit of doing what we can to help address a monumental problem, the details of which may be specific to our hospice partner, but a problem which ultimately impacts the entire world community.
• As we expand our outreach and willingness to be of service beyond our immediate community, we will grow both physically and spiritually.
• This partnership will help identify Arkansas Hospice as a true community service organization.
• Arkansas Hospice’s partnership with an African hospice will potentially generate interest from African American individuals and groups in our communities, a demographic that is under-represented in the patients and families we serve.
• This partnership will give us introductory access to other groups as well, who aren’t yet familiar with Arkansas Hospice programs and services.
• As people become involved as volunteers and donors to the African hospice project, some of them will also become more involved with the other programs of Arkansas Hospice.
