FIRST:
They Come To Arkansas
Veronica and Simplisius, directors
of Seke Rural Health Hospice (our partners in Zimbabwe), came to Little Rock February 2009
Arkansas Hospice had many opportunities for the community to meet with our friends during their stay.

We Go To Zimbabwe
Then, in May 2010, Arkansas Hospice sent a team of 9 over to Seke!
The group, which included Dianne Swaim, Brad Vaden, Erin Lang, Donna Young, Brenda McDaniel, Becky Dobbs, Tanya Spavins, Nanette Schell and Amanda Schmitt, traveled to Seke, which is located outside of Harare, as part of our African Hospice Partnership.

The Arkansas Hospice group left Little Rock on the morning of May 25. Their anticipated 36-hour journey got a bit longer after a flight cancellation out of Chicago, but after re-routing through London, the travelers arrived at their destination – a bit weary and without luggage – but in great spirits.
Immediately upon arriving in the village, they attended a building dedication celebrating the facility that was partially funded through our partnership.
Throughout the rest of the trip, as the Arkansas Hospice group got acclimated to the living conditions in sub-Saharan Africa, members of the group worked with Seke’s staff and volunteers to share ideas and learn new techniques. While those with clinical expertise worked with Seke’s clinicians, chaplains ministered to the people.
Also, the volunteer on the trip, attorney Tanya Spavins, exchanged legal knowledge with local leaders.
On Thursday, June 3, the group arrived safely back in Little Rock with jet-lag, an amazing life experience, countless stories and the appreciation of people on two continents.
