Hospice training is conducted by professionals and volunteers and is open to anyone who wants to learn about hospice and is interested in volunteering.
Topics include:
- history and philosophy of hospice
- concepts of death and dying
- care and comfort measures
- understanding diseases and conditions
- spirituality
- communication skills
- bereavement issues
Certified volunteers are eligible to be assigned to a hospice patient/family, if they wish. There is no cost for this training and it is held at Arkansas Hospice offices throughout the year.
