Arkansas Hospice grew from a grass-roots movement of concerned citizens who saw the need for a strong, not-for-profit hospice organization to set the standards of care for the home-based hospice services in the state and to pioneer the opening of hospice facilities in Arkansas.
With roots that extend as far back as 1992, the board completed formation in January 1994 and was empowered in its mission in October 1995. The present home-based hospice program began in October 1998.
Arkansas Hospice opened the first hospice facility in Arkansas in February 2000, and the second facility in June 2002.
Arkansas Hospice now provides service to more than 350 patients a day in their homes, nursing homes, inpatient centers or hospitals throughout central Arkansas.
