Arkansas Hospice was incorporated in the state
of Arkansas as a private,
not-for-profit organization on January 17, 1992. It is classified federally as a
501(c)3 charitable organization.
It is governed by a board of
15-20 community volunteers. The President and Chief Executive Officer from May
1995 to June 2011 was Michael Aureli who passed away while in the care of Arkansas Hospice on June 28, 2011. The current President and Chief Executive Officer is Judith S.Wooten.
Arkansas Hospice opened the first hospice inpatient center in Arkansas in February 2000.
Arkansas Hospice currently serves patients in more than 30 counties in the heart of the state. With a daily patient census of approximately 400 and a staff of 350, Arkansas Hospice is the largest hospice program in Arkansas.
