Did you know that one out of four dying Americans is a veteran? Arkansas Hospice recognizes the special opportunity we have to care for the men and women who sacrificed to protect our freedom. We Honor Veterans is a systematic commitment to providing a full-spectrum of care that addresses needs unique to veterans. This includes not only healthcare needs, but also recognizing veterans for their service, and helping families to ensure those entitled receive the VA benefits they deserve.
The process begins with one question: Are you a veteran? In addition to providing education and resources, the Arkansas Hospice team is trained to communicate effectively and honestly with our veterans, and coordinate transitions across VA and community care settings. We are on a mission to go the extra mile. A few ways we provide assistance include:
Accessing VA Benefits: One of the greatest sources of spiritual support and emotional peace we can provide for our veterans is securing the financial well-being of their next of kin. Accessing benefits can be challenging. Our accredited veterans claims agent will help you and your family navigate the process.
Recognizing & Honoring Vets: Several times a year, Arkansas Hospice hosts ceremonies and events to thank our current veteran patients and remember those patients who have passed. We also recognize each veteran by placing a flag and personalized certificate at the patient’s bedside. Our Vet-to-Vet volunteers offer extra support since they may better understand their unique experiences. We also assist with replacing lost medals and awards.
SETTING THE GOLD STANDARD
*Arkansas Hospice maintains the highest certification of any We Honor Veterans partner in Arkansas.
*Arkansas Hospice is one of only seven organizations and the only healthcare provider in Arkansas to be certified by the Arkansas Department of Veterans Affairs (ADVA) for non-profit service to Arkansas’ veteran population.
*Arkansas Hospice is the first hospice in the country to employ a fully accredited veterans claims agent as its Veterans Service Coordinator.
How YOU can help!
Vet-to-Vet: This program pairs a veteran patient with a veteran volunteer who may have a better understanding of what the patient has experienced. A veteran volunteer may assist with providing companionship to veteran patients by holding conversations, interacting with games, and much more. They may also provide a much-needed break to the primary caregiver.
Be an Everyday Advocate: It’s as easy as talking with your family, friends, elected officials, and community members about the importance of not only honoring our veterans on special holidays, but advocating on their behalf to ensure they acquire all the benefits they deserve.
Donate: As a non-profit organization, our innovative veteran services would not be possible without charitable support. Help us go above and beyond to bring dignity, comfort, and peace to our veterans and their families by giving online at www.arkansashospice.org and clicking donate to designate your gift to our Veteran Services Fund today.
Partner: Join our corporate and charitable partners in furthering the mission of Arkansas Hospice within our veteran community.
