The Arkansas Hospice Foundation impacts the communities we serve. With your support, we will continue subsidizing programs administered by Arkansas Hospice, helping our fellow Arkansans live life to the fullest. Here are a few examples of how your gifts make a community impact:
Veterans: One out of four dying Americans is a veteran. Through the Arkansas Hospice Committed to Veterans program, your gifts not only help veterans receive the care they deserve, but also raise awareness of veterans causes through media campaigns and ceremonies to honor veterans across Arkansas.
Grief Support: The cost of bereavement care is not included in the Medicare reimbursement formula. However, as a nonprofit care provider, Arkansas Hospice offers this service free of charge to anyone who has experienced loss in the communities we serve.
Rural Care: Only 7 of the 43 counties in the Arkansas Hospice service area are classified as urban. It is more difficult and expensive to provide care in rural areas, yet the need is greater. Your gifts help bring comfort care to all Arkansans in our service area, no matter how remote.
Minority Outreach: Minority families do not utilize hospice care at the same rate as non-minority families. Thanks to grants from organizations like the Ross Foundation and Arkansas Black Hall of Fame, Arkansas Hospice is reaching out to black, Hispanic and other ethnic communities to increase access, educate and bring cultural awareness of the benefits of hospice care.
Pediatrics: Arkansas Hospice has the only dedicated pediatric hospice care team in the state, and serves more pediatric patients than any other hospice provider in Arkansas.
Other specialized areas of care are also supported by the Foundation. Through the Arkansas Hospice Foundation in 2018, you set a new record for contributing to Arkansas Hospice patients experiencing life-limiting illness and their families. Together we provided a car battery to help facilitate transportation to appointments; tuition and travel for disease-specific training and support for a grandparent caring for her granddaughter; funding for American flags to be provided for all inpatient centers to honor our veterans with “The Last Salute”; and a lobster dinner to grant a patient’s lifelong wish. Each dollar impacted the kindness, compassion and dignity experienced by those in our care.
I have nothing but the best things to say about Arkansas Hospice. They were so good to my Dad before he passed away. The love and care, compassion they showed to my dad was priceless. The nurses and CNA’s that took care of my Dad are the best and always be the best.
We are just starting our dad’s final journey and Arkansas Hospice has been a blessing. They’ve taught us so much already and provide as much support and comfort to the family as they do my dad. I’m grateful they’ll be walking this final path with us.
I love Arkansas Hospice. Every single employee has a heart of gold and takes the best care of their patients.
I would not hesitate at all to recommend this provider for anyone who is considering hospice care for themselves or for a loved one.
Arkansas Hospice took care of my Mom before she passed. It was my first experience with any hospice and I was amazed. They took such great care of her. They treated her with dignity and respect until the end.
So many thanks for the way your staff treated my very dear friend, Jeff, as he raced toward the finish line. Words can’t express my gratitude for helping us to care for him and keep him comfortable. Top-notch professionalism and immediate responses to requests for assistance.
