Since she was a young girl, Lacey had been enchanted with Tinker Bell, the fairy sidekick to Peter Pan. Lacey covered her walls in posters of the blonde fairy and slept every night with a Tinker Bell pillow. She dreamed of someday meeting Tinker Bell in person.
Time and again her family would make plans to take the trip to Florida to fulfill their daughter’s lifelong dream. Each time, Lacey would become too ill to travel.
At the age of 34, with the help of Arkansas Hospice Foundation, Lacey and her family finally made the journey to meet the enchanting sprite in person.
They say Tinker Bell’s speech consists of the sounds of a tinkling bell, which is understandable only to those familiar with the language of the fairies. That day, Lacey hung on every word Tinker Bell shared.
It’s hard to say what sparkled more, Tinker Bell’s wings or Lacey’s smile. For anyone who witnessed this dream coming true, there is no doubt it was magical.
