New Beginnings

August 5, 2020

“And suddenly you know: It’s time to start something new and trust the magic of beginnings.”

~ Meister Eckhart

For some people, August means “new beginnings” – many of us transition from wrapping up summer vacations to finding the groove of getting ‘back to school’. But during a global pandemic, with summer plans possibly cancelled and so much uncertainty on what the new semester of school looks like, is there really a ‘new beginning’? If so, when did it start? What does it look like? Or, if you’re like me, you may be asking if it has even started yet?

Since March, many of us have had to let go of what we now refer to as our old ways or “before COVID”. Changes in how we think, behave and relate to one another are quickly defining our new normal.

Did you know there are stages of transition? And oddly enough, it starts with an “ending” – where we experience a variety of things such as shock, fear, sadness, or maybe even anger. We may find ourselves in a neutral zone where we might feel confused, disoriented, a bit skeptical, and maybe even frustrated. Then, there are new beginnings. And while the idea of starting anew can be a bit scary, it might also be filled with excitement, optimism, energy, and even creativity!

As we muddle through this seemingly never-ending pandemic, where are you? Are you stuck in neutral? Are you focusing on new beginnings? Give it some thought and then start thinking about how you can transition into a ‘new beginning’ if you’re not already there.

Be Well…
