Through communication, education, and raising awareness of what hospice care is, the benefits for patients and their caregivers, and overcoming barriers of access to care, we can improve care for African American patients and their families as they face life-limiting illnesses.
Made possible in part through a generous grant from the Hillman Foundation, this continuing series is presented to help overcome these barriers. Please view, and share with others, these meaningful presentations.
Each presentation is hosted by Arkansas Hospice Minority Outreach Coordinator Kyle Jones, and features a expert panelist relevant to the series.
Jamie Boshears, a Certified Thanatologist and Certified Grief Counselor, has worked in the field of grief and loss for more than twenty years and is currently a bereavement specialist with Arkansas Hospice. Jamie advocates for the grief journey in the manner most meaningful for those who walk it, strongly believes that loving deeply and grieving deeply go hand in hand, and that finding the continuing bond with those gone is an integral part of the healing process.
During this challenging COVID time, Jamie has been instrumental in helping create and co-facilitate telegrief support groups for Arkansas Hospice as well as the podcast “Speaking of Grief.” Jamie is currently pursuing her End-of-Life Doula Certification.
