“Showing gratitude is one of the simplest yet most powerful things humans can do for each other.” — Randy Pausch

What is it that inspires people to go above and beyond? Is it based on an emergent need or is it just the intrinsic value system at the core of a person who steps up, shows up, suits up, PPEs up? There is no right or wrong answer, nor does either answer completely define the character of a person; however, it is said that a person who feels appreciated will always do more than what is expected. It is also said that sometimes miracles are just good people with kind hearts. The employees of Arkansas Hospice exemplify all of the above, performing miracles of all kinds, every day.

In our new COVID-19 reality, and in an effort to remain safe, how do we say thank you to one another, especially when our go-to ways of expressing gratitude provide risks? At this time, we should not hug, shake hands, or nourish one another through a potluck luncheon.

These are just a few ways we can say thank you to one another at this challenging time:

“I think you’re incredible.”

“This is all further proof of the caliber of each Arkansas Hospice employee.”

“Your continued sense of humor amazes me.”

“Thank you for listening.”

“Thank you for telling me what you needed.”

“Wow! I could never do what you do.”

“Your heart for this work is a joy to see.”

“You made such a difference for her.”

“Thank you for going out of your way.”

The theologian Henri Nouwen said that being present to each is what really matters. And Shakespeare said, “Words matter.” KNOW this: YOU ARE HEARD, YOU ARE SEEN, and YOU ARE APPRECIATED more than you can possibly imagine. Whether that lifts you right now or it’s something you tuck in your pocket to think about later, KNOW. Not one single action happens without your giving heart and your commitment to fulfilling the mission of Arkansas Hospice.

From everything in us,

THANK YOU!

Be Well …
