A Parade of Kindness takes a journey across Searcy to Judsonia

By arhospice on May 29th, 2020

The Arkansas Hospice “Journey” van made its way to White County, leading a “Parade of Kindness” as it delivered Cards of Kindness for the residents of three area facilities. First responders joined the parade, and local clergy, including two Arkansas Hospice chaplains, shared words of encouragement and comfort upon delivery of the cards.

Area EMS/first responders led the parade to help Arkansas Hospice deliver Cards of Kindness to residents The Springs of Searcy, The Crossings at Riverside, and Oakdale Nursing Home. Many of the cards were prepared by the EMS/first responders who participated in the parade.

Arkansas Hospice launched Cards of Kindness in March, as the COVID-19 pandemic reduced or eliminated the ability of residents in nursing homes, rehabilitation centers and long term care facilities to see visitors. A Card of Kindness is simply a way to interact with our seniors in isolation, or who may feel forgotten, through written cards, letters, drawings, poems, finger paintings and art from Arkansans of all ages.

Arkansas Hospice would like to extend a special thanks to all who made this wonderful day happen.

Cards of Kindness are still being collected and distributed across the state to deserving residents of facilities who cannot see visitors due to the social distancing practices enacted to protect them from COVID-19. CLICK HERE to learn how you can participate with your kindness…
